When I found out the sweet baby coming to my studio last week was named Wren, I had to run out and find a little brown bird to incorporate into her session. I am obsessed with designing specific custom sets for my clients and tying in themes related to their nursery, name, and traditions. Enjoy a few of my favorites from their gallery.

I love photographing newborn twins in my Winterville, NC studio. It's a challenge and a shake up from my typical newborn flow. My favorite part of these sessions is planning the styling and pairing coordinating outfits and sets. Kevin and Aislinn Tripp Farms Wedding Venue

Here comes another Wedding Wednesday! Aislinn and Kevin were married on October 20, 2018 at the charming Tripp Farms wedding venue in Greenville, NC.

Aislinn's gown was so amazing and had an awesome country prairie feel which fell right in line with Kevin's cowboy look. I loved the red accent color for the bouquets and the boutonnieres too (which were magnetic!)

We had planned for an outdoor ceremony but mother nature had other plans. So we moved the arbor inside, (thanks groomsmen!) and held the ceremony indoors at the reception site and it was just perfect. The rain stopped for our portrait hour and we were able to get all of these great portraits before the sun went down. Their sweet boy Duke was featured in the ceremony and during the portrait sessions. He was in quite a few of their engagement photos too, so it was so great seeing this sweet boy again, seriously the best behaved dog ever!

The reception ended with a sparkler send off and killer dip kiss.

Michael and Megan Married

They reserved The Glass Box, a smaller venue that has ALL THE WINDOWS for Megan and besties to get ready. Megan only had one bridesmaid but hosted all of her girls in her bridal suite to do makeup, hair, eat snacks, have a few cocktails, and share in the pre wedding festivities. The lighting in The Glass Box was truly a photographer's dream come true. This little venue was also a great area for family portraits following the ceremony. Due to the constant bands of rain Megan and Michael decided to do their first look here then we headed out to the balcony during a rain break for some quick couple portraits and bridal party shots.

The ceremony and reception was held in Stockroom 230, a gorgeous brick and wood adorned venue with large sparkle lights providing warm ambiance. Their ceremony was short and sweet featuring some of their favorite readings (as you can see in the reception decor literature was the theme for decor, so elegant and personal for this couple.)

These two danced the night away and partied hard with all their friends and family surrounding them with all the best intentions and well wished one could ever hope for. We wish you two the best!

Sunni and Mason

I met Sunni a few years ago at an oyster roast of a mutual friend. Sunni was studying at ECU and worked as a nanny caring for my friend’s 2 children. Shortly after she moved back home to Wisconsin I heard that she was struck by the vehicle of an inebriated driver while crossing the road and was in serious condition. I heard updates of her progress through our mutual friend and prayed for her and her recovery. During one of these “Sunni Updates” I came to learn that Sunni had a boyfriend who she had just started dating 5 days before the accident. His name, Mason. I thought to myself, “what an amazing guy, if they could get through this they could get through anything.” So of course when Sunni emailed me to ask to be their wedding photographer, I knew I had to be a part of their love story.

Sunni and Mason were married at the gorgeous Chateau of the Isle in Indian Beach, NC on Thursday October 11, 2018 as Hurricane Florence was literally miles away from the coast.

With the change in the weather we decided to do a “first look” to make sure our wedding day portraits were captured before the rain and wind really picked up. It was the best decision ever and I am so in love with those shots. We even decided to head to the shore for a super mini session. We had a tiny patch of dry sand that was gone in 5 minutes as the waves crashed all the way to the dunes. I wish you could have been there to see how crazy windy it was (see Sunni’s dress blowing in the wind.)

Before the ceremony yellow daisies were placed in the seats of every guest as a memorial to those who have passed on. The flowergirls picked up all the daisies and placed them in a vase in the front of the ceremony site. Just as I thought I was going to cry 3 teddy bears were brought up the aisle and I came to learn they were sewn from the clothing of grandparents who had passed away. Sunni and Mason touched each of the bears and rang a windchime hanging from the fireplace and the ceremony began. It was a very moving gesture.

By the time the reception started the hurricane was hovering right over us but you would never know from the warm gathering of so many loved ones to celebrate this special couple on their magical day.

Aislinn Bridal Session at Longstraw Farms

Bridal sessions are one of my favorite parts of shooting weddings in the South. I love getting to see my brides get all dressed up and perfected in their wedding day looks before the big day. But for Aislinn's session there was actually a huge bonus! I got to photograph her with her horse!!!! This is my second bridal session featuring a special hooved companion and I was so pleased when I arrived at the wedding reception this past Saturday to see my bride's favorite choice was of course, one with her horse.

Yankee Hall Plantation Greenville, NC

Kelly and Brandon! Oh my gosh I am so excited to share some of my favorite images from Kelly and Brandon's wedding at the always beautiful Yankee Hall!!! It was the perfect day for an outdoor wedding, late September and you could feel Fall coming on. Kelly's maid of honor was her little sister and Brandon's best man was his little boy Caleb. He was such a little sweetheart and did a great job of getting the ring to the officiant. :-) Also see him having his boutonniere fixed up by his daddy in the photos below.

Kelly chose a Royal Blue for her accent colors that popped against the green fields of Yankee Hall's outdoor wedding location. I loved the custom hanger accent bow, blue roses, and of course the shoes! So fun to photograph with the veil! To keep tradition, we did all of the family portraits, bridal party, and of course the newlywed portraits after the ceremony and I stole my bride and groom away again after dinner, and then one more time before the send off to get the magical shot under the lit gazebo. The sparkler send off was great (you know how much I love those long wedding sparklers - a MUST HAVE for any sparkler send off.)

We wish you two all the love and happiness in the world and we can't wait to share these highlights from the wedding day.

Andrea and Aldon were married on June 16,2018 at the always beautiful Yankee Hall Plantation in Greenville, NC. I have known Andrea for a very long time and was so honored when she asked me to be her photographer for their special day. Andrea looked so stunning in her gown and Aldon was just grinning ear to ear when he laid eyes on her. Surrounded by family and friends centered between those 2 beautiful trees they vowed their love to each other forever.

Longstraw Farms in Ayden is one of my most absolute favorite Spring and Summer Venues. It just doesn't get much better than this. I had my sweet assistant/prop mule/ husband bring out my vintage white couch, plopped it down in front of the property and viola, photography magic. Lydia and Lance did an amazing job dressing the kids and helping me guide them through the session. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Courtney's Bridal Session

Meet Lindsey and Adam, one of my newest 2016 couples! Adam works in construction and is a volunteer firefighter and his beautiful fiance Lindsey is a teacher here in Pitt County. This session is the exact reason why all of my wedding packages include an engagement session. When we were getting started Lindsey warned me that Adam was not a fan of being photographed (most guys really aren't, Lindsey however, is a natural.) He was being such a good sport and going along with the plan, but let me tell you that by the time we ended he was smiling ear to ear and having a great time with his girl. I love this series and I hope you do too!

These 2 lovebirds are tying the knot this November 5th at Pollard Farm in Greenville, NC.

We had an amazing time at the beautiful wedding of Leigh Ann and Brandon last weekend at the Coral Bay Club in Atlantic Beach. Right before the ceremony a huge storm blew in, and for a while it looked as though our outdoor ceremony was going to be impossible. Magically after about 30 minutes of torrential downpour the clouds parted. The chairs were dried, a rainbow emerged, and these 2 kids got married :-) My favorite part was during the first kiss when Brandon kissed Leigh Ann so hard her veil off. Best of luck to you two!

I have so many wonderful things to say about this girl, and have been patiently waiting to share these portraits for almost 2 months. First off, within 15 minutes of our session starting a random storm system developed (a constant issue during wedding season in NC.) Thunder shook the ground, but not our determination to nail these portraits on location. Within 20 minutes the storm blew away and the clouds parted to reveal an beautiful cerulean blue sky which quickly evolved into a dramatic sunset. Ellie and Frank Engaged

Frank and Ellie will be married this July in St.Peter's Church in Greenville, NC. There is a beautiful park across the street where we decided to start our photo shoot. I am so excited to be shooting their newlywed portraits in this same location next month! As there were no bathrooms nearby I was able to BUST OUT my brand new portable changing room for the downtown wardrobe change. I love how perfectly Ellie and Frank were styled for each location. The jeans and comfortable tops coordinated so well with the freshness of the park and they were dressed to the nines to head uptown. Here are a few of my faves.

Allie and City

This was one of those sessions that photographers dream about. I was ecstatic after I was contacted by Allie's mom about shooting a session with her 6 year old daughter and her horse, City. It was such a great experience to work with a horse as an actual part of the portrait, a figure to be posed, to relate with a tiny counterpart. I had an amazing time and I hope you enjoy these photographs even half as much as I did making them.

I always ask my couples how do they like to spend their time together because every once in a while they say something really amazing like, "kayaking, playing in our band, or like Michelle and Justin, disc golf. Their answer inspired our first location of Glenburnie Park in New Bern, NC. We finished up down at the waterfront and had an amazing time. This sweet couple was so easy to photograph because they just couldn't keep their hands off each other, I'd tell them we had the shot and I would glance down to my screen for a few seconds, look up, and they would just keep right on kissin it up. Love. I cannot wait for their wedding at Tucker Farms this Fall.

Travis and I were so inspired this year to create a really magical environment for the Eastern Carolina Bridal Expo here in Greenville, NC. I love, love, love a bridal show!!! There is so much energy and excitement in the air (along with scrumptious smells from surrounding caterers and bakers mmmm....)

Hours of mounting prints, sketching, re-sketching, refinishing furniture, and stalking arriving packages on Amazon, we developed this environment to meet new brides and reconnect with old friends. I was even approached by reporter Ali Weatherton of WNCT for an interview.

I met this sweet family last Saturday for a mini birthday session and a few family shots. It was a beautiful sunny day in Greenville, NC for a family portrait session. Baby Eliza displayed a range of emotions, as expected from a one year old. I was thrilled to be able to capture intimate momma cuddles and big laughing smiles within the same session. This session was such a great idea! Erin wanted 2 separate photoshoots with her extended family and then her husbands extended family. It worked so great because there was enough time to do individual family portraits, cousins, siblings, kids and me-maw, and large group portraits. The variety is endless and you can split the session fees up between family groups. Smart Smart Smart. Love It!

Meet Whitney and Noah... We made these family photos (yes they are that in love and are already married) in mid October. It was such a beautiful day and the heat of the summer was still in the sand but the summer crowds had started dying down. Noah and Whitney were champs in the last few shots as I kept waving them back further into the surf to get the shot. We had a blast, I hope you enjoy :-)

This adorable couple was married on a drizzly August day in Macclesfield, NC. Bride, Laura got ready for the day in her childhood home with her six beautiful bridesmaids and mother. Jason, was ready in a flash (as all grooms are) and even got in a little basketball before the "I dos." The ceremony was beautiful and went off without a hitch. We were so surprised when the relentless rain paused for twenty quick minutes immediately following the ceremony. It was just long enough for a quick portrait session with the bride, groom, and family. Reception followed at Maccraprine County Club, where the bride and groom celebrated with family and friends.

This summer I had the honor to photograph Jessie and Cameron's wedding which took place at Covenant Church in Winterville, NC. My favorite part of the wedding was the trolley ride to the Martinsborough in Uptown Greenville. I love the moments right after the ceremony, the couples are so blissful and relieved. Champagne toasts are way more fun at 55+ mph! These are some of my favorites.
